I live and write at the edge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in Montana and in a remote village in southern Greece. My articles and essays have appeared in National Geographic, The Guardian, Scientific American, Orion Magazine, The Boston Globe, and many others. My stories, as wide-ranging as my interests, have explored habitat restoration and the climate crisis in the American Southwest, the agricultural and culinary histories and traditions of the eastern Mediterranean, and other facets of culture and the natural world. Lately, my work has focused on old-growth forests and their extraordinary potential for mitigating climate breakdown and harboring biodiversity. Thank you for visiting my website!
